2014: #HUMANITARIANHEROES

World Humanitarian Day 2014 banner

This year we are shining the spotlight on humanitarians around the world and profiling Humanitarian Heroes – people from all walks of life, who are committed to making a difference. World Humanitarian Day is an opportunity to celebrate the spirit that inspires humanitarian work around the world. Thousands of people across the globe are doing incredible work every day. But unfortunately some of them pay the ultimate price. This World Humanitarian Day, we honour those humanitarians who face danger to help people in need. We remember their sacrifice. By tweeting #humanitarianheroes you stand in support for those who risk their lives every day.

MESSENGERS OF HUMANITY

As a Messenger of Humanity, you’ll be a member of an engaged online group of people who are motivated to take action in the name of humanity. We are asking you to join the world’s humanitarian organisations such as the United Nations as a global advocate. Join the movement, take action and make a difference to the world we live in.

Messenger of Humanity is a platform to amplify and unite a generation’s call for a better world. It’s a place for you to learn and act, and be part of a global community that stands up for humanity.

As part of the Messenger of Humanity community you will receive the latest advocacy campaigns from humanitarian organisations working with their call to action that you can share on your social networks and amplify the message.

The first day of action will be 19 August: World Humanitarian Day. This is a day to celebrate humanitarians around the world. In an effort to build a global sense of momentum, we will call on our Messengers of Humanity to take an important social action on this day.

We aim to build momentum around that important date, so be sure to stay tuned for updates on how you can help celebrate and support the good work of #humanitarianheroes far and wide.
